Another factor in the slow rise of the EPUB is that it has traditionally been written off as being suitable only for text rich publications in single column layout. In fact, the format's specifications allow the EPUB to do much more than this and, as the EPUB has slowly risen, so has support for its extensive features. This is making the EPUB a suitable vessel not only for an ever growing number of traditional print publications but also for new forms of work designed around the unique characteristics the format itself.
This download is designed for Apple Books and Google Play Books. It will not open on Kindle but designing for Apple Books and Google means the booklet will still open on any smartphone or tablet on an app with a well known name. It is currently impossible to achieve this layout with any ebook creation software. Writing the EPUB directly with code allows a publication to take advantage of layouts and features inaccessible to software and is the best way to ensure it's future proof too.
